BUCHAREST BIENNALE – considered the most important contemporary art event in Romania – will open its fifth edition on the 24th of May 2012 with an international press conference where the artists, curator and directors of the event will participate. The conference will be held at 11.00 A.M. at Intercontinental Hotel, Rapsodia hall (University square).
BB5 will contain the main exhibition curated by Anne Barlow (UK/USA), with the theme Tactics For The Here And Now and a series of parallel events. For details and program you can visit www.bucharestbiennale.org
The exhibition is installed in 7 venues in Bucharest, and a considerable part of the exhibited works were created especially for this event.
PAVILION – journal for politics and culture – has dedicated an entire issue to BB5 thus it became the catalogue/reader of the biennale, with over 200 pages, also accompanied by a BB5 map-guide. The publications can be downloaded from www.bucharestbiennale.org
On this occasion over 200 journalists, curators and international theoreticians have announced their presence in the capital of Romania. The opening day program will include a preview of the exhibition opened especially for professionals and press, a performance, the opening party and the concert of the Canadian band Chinawoman, who will perform for the first time in Romania.
Bucharest Biennale 5 is dedicated to the memory of the artist Ioana Nemes (1979-2011).
