Teodor Graur “Lucru nou”

Modernismul este factiunea ideologica si stilistica victorioasa in ultima suta de ani. Toti traim modern. Chiar si propovaduitorii intoarcerii la vechile valori stau in zgirie-nori si navigheaza pe internet. Fie ca se refera la liberalism, stiinta, comunicare, progres, urbanism, design, tehnologie, sau la confort, moda, sport, divertisment, consumism, criticism, umor si hedonism, modernismul, sub toate aspectele sale, traseaza frontierele modului de viata actual. Cu idealurile si utopiile sale, cu produsele si ambitiile sale progresiste, cu vocatia sa definitorie pentru dinamism si noutate, modernismul ne tine captivi in cusca invizibila a unei libertati netarmurite, care ne face sa trecem cu vederea reversul medaliei, haosul, discriminarea, criza, manipularea, demagogia, obscurantismul, violenta, regresiunea, autoritarismul, mereu prezente in corpul unei civilizatii ce-si continua mersul triumfal.
Distanta dintre utopie, dintre idealurile modernismului si realitatea distopica a vietii moderne, coliziunea dintre obsesia noului si oboseala noutatii alimenteaza opera “marelui reciclator”  Teodor Graur.
Aceasta distanta este imperceptibila atunci cind asezi ultimul model de televizor cu plasma intr-un duplex proaspat inaugurat. Dar ce se intimpla oare atunci cind asezi in acelasi duplex un televizor care a fost ieri sau alaltaieri ultimul model? Sau unul care a fost ultimul model acum 50 de ani? si acela incorpora o identica aspiratie spre noutatea absoluta, cu tehnologia sa de virf (acum revoluta), cu formele sale placute (acum penibile), cu utilitatea si cu idealitatea lui (acum hilare), ridicate ca o flamura a progresului (devenit acum gunoi).
Ciocnirea dintre progresul frumos de azi si progresul frumos de ieri produce un frison al constiintei in obiectele dubitative, sardonic bricolate de Teodor Graur. El re-prezinta modernismul ca pe o natura moarta, imbinind abil ambitii cu handicapuri, propensiuni, diversiuni si regresiuni, tocmai pentru a aduce in prim plan retorica invechita a
noului, mania inovatiei, a informatiei, a placerii si a confortului, care deseneza atit idealurile cit si patologia modernismului. Pentru Teodor Graur, modernismul este o tema gen “vanitas”. Obiectele sale, produse prin descoperirea unei naturi secrete in aparenta de contra-natura a imbinarii lor, au acel aspect de alegorie ultima al
monumentelor funerare. Reciclator maxim, Teodor Graur este totodata artistul care imbalsameaza fastuos modernismul. Devenit mumie, modernismul spune astfel mai mult despre vanitatea si caracterul tranzitoriu al noului, despre convingerea facila dar mereu emotionanta ca lucrul (cel mai) nou poate sa ramina, sa reziste, sa transceanda efemerul abundentei si consumului fara limite. Remodern este o oda funebra fluierata cu zimbetul pe buze. Teodor Graur resapeaza modernismul pentru a-i scoate la iveala luciul sters, uzura ideilor si a formelor, dar si grandoarea proaspat fanata a ambitiilor lui la ora actuala, cind consumul a devenit cheia si masura progresului. Pe undeva melancolic, nostalgic, Remodern face sa transpara precaritatea si caducitatea inovatiei, a formelor si ideilor frumoase, moderniste, tocmai prin conservarea lor cu o dragoste rece, sarcastica, aplicata, intransigenta si pe alocuri perfida, precum aceea a lui Teodor Graur.

HANDLUNG. ON PRODUCING POSSIBILITIES

BB4 takes the ambiguity of the German term “Handlung” – that is impossible to translate in all its levels of meaning, but it is somehow located between action, activity, agency and participation, but at the same time it could also mean story or even narration – as a starting point to examine diverse practices, which are proposing various forms of action. BB4 attempts to scrutinize and to exhaust the promise – that might just be a supposition – of art taking place in the public sphere and is it thus creating possibilities for (political) action or does the artwork itself has already inherited this moment of action? Therefore, the exhibition rather tries to articulate questions and suggests different prospects than to formulate answers. BB4 will show artistic projects that deal with direct involvement in actions, participation and public space as well as community based art, but also works that are based on questioning, correcting and subverting history and historiography form, among others, a central point. The biennial aims to intensify the interaction with the urban and political context in Bucharest by inviting participants from different fields.

CURATOR

BB4Felix Vogel (b. 1987) is a researcher and curator. Studies in art history, media theory, philosophy and aesthetics at HfG Karlsruhe and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid. His research and curatorial practice is focused on the relations between aesthetics and the social sphere. Consequently, he is interested in areas linked to activism, gender, historical avant-gardes as well as participative architecture. In 2008 he edited two books for One Star Press (Paris): “Renaud Auguste-Dormeuil: Fin de représentation” and “Lia Perjovschi: Sense.” and has written for different magazines, among others PAVILION, Cura, Displayer and AFI. Felix Vogel gave lectures in institutions such as Index (Stockholm), Evento (Bordeaux) and PAVILION UNICREDIT (Bucharest). He taught workshops and seminars at HEAD Geneva, Free Academy Bucharest and 1.Curatorial Symposium Sofia/Plovdiv. ?Felix Vogel lives and works in Berlin.

The curator of BB4 has selected 37 participants/artists from 19 countries, who will show works produced between 1935 and 2010 and some of them specially for BUCHAREST BIENNALE.

PUBLICATIONS
PAVILION – journal for politics and culture will dedicate a special issue to the Biennale with contributions by all the artists and texts by Felix Vogel, Bruno Latour, Chantal Mouffe, Maria Muhle, Ludger Schwarte, Reinhold Martin, Hito Steyerl, Eugen Radescu, Wu Ming, Julia Brotea and Daniel Béland, Andrei Craciun, Antonio Negri, Doina Petrescu, Razvan Ion, Peter Osborne.

A mini-guide will be published to be a handy instrument for navigation through the biennale.

SIMULTANEOUS PARALLEL EVENTS

A wide range of lectures, debates, performances and other parallel events will take place especially during the opening days and during the whole course of Bucharest Biennale 4. Among the opening days are lectures by Chantal Mouffe and Maria Muhle as well as a parallel exhibition project with HEAD Geneva. From June 25 and 26 an international conference on “Comparative Art History: The Biennale Principle” will take place in collaboration with the Swiss Art History Institute; speakers include Beat Wyss, Zdenka Badovinac and other renowned  scholars and curators.

Scoala Centrala ferita de turnuri

Scoala Centrala BucurestiTribunalul Bucuresti a anulat prin sentinta pronuntata miercuri 7 aprilie si comunicata astazi, Planul Urbanistic de Detaliu (PUD) care prevedea constructia unui turn de 15 etaje vizavi de Scoala Centrala.

Planul Urbanistic de Detaliu a fost aprobat prin Hotararea 136 din 27.11.2008 a Consiliului Local al Sectorului 2. Prevedea demolarea Restaurantului Moldova si a cladirilor din str. Icoanei nr. 6 si 8 si construirea in loc a unui imobil 3S+P+2E+12Er (3 etaje subsol, parter, 2 etaje, 12 etaje retrase). Beneficiarul era firma S.C. Raptis Kavouras S.R.L., iar proiectantul a fost arhitectul Marius Turcu.

Actiunea de anulare a PUD-ului a fost initiata separat de Asociatia Prietenii Scolii Centrale, Asociatia Salvati Bucurestiul si Ministerul Culturii, dosarele fiind conexate la Tribunal. Consiliul Local al Sectorului 2 poate formula recurs la decizia de azi a Tribunalului Bucuresti la Curtea de Apel Bucuresti. Intr-o actiune separata, Prefectul Municipiului Bucuresti a atacat si el PUD-ul, dosarul fiind in curs de solutionare la Tribunalul Bucuresti.

Asociatia Prietenii Scolii Centrale si Asociatia Salvati Bucurestiul multumesc avocatilor Simona Togui si Bogdan Dumitru, care le-au sustinut cauza in instanta pro bono.

PUD-ul anulat incalca flagrant prevederile Planul Urbanistic Zonal (PUZ) aferent zonei protejate Icoanei. PUZ-ul prevedea inaltimi maxime de 10 metri, nicidecum de 45 metri cum prevedea PUD-ul si o densitate de construire (CUT = coeficient de utilizare a terenului) de 1,8, nicidecum de 5,25 cum prevedea PUD-ul. Legea urbanismului in vigoare la data aprobarii PUD-ului interzicea modificarea inaltimii maxime si a CUT prin PUD.

PUD-ul anulat a beneficiat de un aviz de la Directia de Cultura Bucuresti, semnat de directorul de trista amintire Stefan Damian si de consilierul Ileana Kisilewicz (inca in functie).

Decizia de azi a Tribunalului Bucuresti confirma inca o data sutele de ilegalitati urbanistice de la Primaria Sectorului 2 (unde primarul Neculai Ontanu si Arhitectul Sef Bogdan Parvanu sunt inca in functie) si de la Directia de Cultura Bucuresti (unde consilierii care au semnat ilegalitati sunt inca in functie).

Alte actiuni in instanta ale ONG-urilor sunt fie in curs de solutionare fie in pregatire.

Pe 16 aprilie, the usual/unusual party se desfasoara la The Ark / FRONT. Vasile si Artan vor fi acolo, alaturi de Juja the Honey Peanut, VJ Tom, The Ambiance si Sharky, cu ocazia lansarii celui de-al 10-lea mix din seria Save or Cancel.

Why the PARTY? Pentru ca schimbam prefixul si transformam seria de mixuri promo produse de DJ romani. Cum? din release’uri digitale sporadice, Save or Cancel Mix Series se materializeaza ca CD – un produs autentic, local, colectionabil – limitat la 500 de bucati / volum. Fiecare volum nou al seriei de mixuri va fi constitui astfel un prilej de party, iar party’ul va fi unica ocazie de a intra in posesia CD’ului promo – cadou pentru fiecare posesor de bilet.
Si pentru ca muzica ar trebui sa se auda TARE, vom inlocui cele 40-50 minute de streaming online cu 6 ore de party, impreuna.

Why DJ Vasile? Pentru ca ne place continuitatea ca exercitiu si diversitatea ca motiv; pentru ca apreciem muzica facuta cu pasiune. Iar cel mai bun exponent al celor enumerate este DJ Vasile – motiv pentru care el este autorul volumului 10 Save or Cancel Mix Series. Impreuna cu invitatii sai – Artan si Juja the Honey Peanut – DJ Vasile ne va scoate la o tura in afara cotidianului, prin Zona Libera a muzicii romanesti.

VJ Tom va ghida imaginatiile celor prezenti cu visuals’uri live, croite dupa o lunga experienta alaturi de sunetele lui DJ Vasile.

The Ambiance se ocupa de zona de role din Romania si documenteaza tot ceea ce tine de aceasta. Ajunsa la numarul 4, seria de DVD’uri Ambiance dar si restul de item’uri sport-oriented vor fi la subsolul The Ark / FRONT. Footage recent si foarte recent va rula toata noaptea – poate si un preview la The Ambiance DVD 5.

Sharky va fi acolo sa surprinda cele mai surprinzatoare momente!

FRONT se doreste a fi un generator de forte si energii muzicale/culturale unice în varietatea incoerent? a Bucurestiului, o platform? muzical? rafinat? care ofer? alternative si promite experiente inedite. Fiecare live act, fiecare petrecere g?zduit? de FRONT, are un aport unic asupra ansamblului si confera locului o amprent? inconfundabil?.
